Westfield helping hands
The WHSHH (Westfield High School Helping Hand) was an idea established last year when we were faced with serious illnesses for both colleagues and students. The idea of the fund is to provide assistance in a modest way to families in our school community who are in need of some help. It could be in the form of providing them with gift cards for dinners at local restuarants or other items which may help them in dealing with the issue confronting them. Last year we ran a raffle which was moderately successful and raised $3,000.00...Hopefully this initiaitve and other initiaitves including another Springtime raffles will add to the fund's war chest. The whole idea, provide a "helping hand" to our colleagues and students.

St Paul's United Methodist Church has been a beacon of hope for those who have lost almost everything in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The Church serves meals to the displaced every morning and evening, and snacks and beverages are served throughout the day. The church is also assisting in coordinating service efforts in the Point Pleasant/Lavalette area.
